Responsible gambling

If gambling is no longer controllable, a better casino is not the solution

TARK.BET can help check an operator, payment or rule. It cannot make harmful gambling behaviour safe. If money, time or emotions are moving out of control, the right tool is a break, a limit or help — not another operator.

Set the limit before play, not after a loss

Deposit, loss and time limits work best when decided before the session. “One last bet” after a loss is already part of an emotional decision.

Do not use credit to recover losses

Using borrowed money or bill money turns gambling risk into a second problem. Gambling outcomes are not a controllable income plan.

Take a break when decision quality changes

If stakes rise after losses, sessions run longer than planned or gambling interferes with sleep and work, reducing account and payment access is a sensible step.

Self-exclusion and professional support

If control is slipping, use operator self-exclusion tools and local support resources. In an emergency or mental-health crisis, contact local emergency services.

Estonia's national gambling restriction is stronger than simply closing one account

In Estonia, a person can place themselves in the Tax and Customs Board register restricting games of chance, toto/sports betting and classical lotteries. While a restriction is valid, gambling operators authorised in Estonia must not allow the person to participate in the restricted gambling category.

The restriction itself is open-ended, but when setting it the person chooses a period from 6 to 36 months after which they may apply to be removed from the list. It cannot simply be cancelled immediately after the emotional moment passes.

  • The fastest route is e-MTA: Registers and inquiries → Registration → Registration of gambling restrictions.
  • A restriction submitted through e-MTA takes effect no later than the following day.
  • It can also be submitted at an MTA service bureau or at a gambling operator.

When you need help rather than only a technical block

The Tax and Customs Board points people with gambling problems and those close to them to free counselling support. If gambling is affecting debt, work, sleep or relationships, combining access restrictions with professional counselling is a sensible next step.

TARK.BET does not try to recommend a “safer” operator in that situation. If the problem is loss of control, the next step should reduce access to gambling rather than optimise casino selection.

How the restriction is actually enforced

EMTA says Estonia-authorised gambling operators must check whether a person has an applicable restriction before allowing them to gamble. The restriction is therefore not just a personal reminder.

A restriction submitted through e-MTA takes effect no later than the following day. Applications submitted at a service bureau or gambling venue can take up to two working days to be registered.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does a better RTP solve problem gambling?

No. Game mathematics does not make harmful gambling behaviour controllable.

When should I take a break?

When stakes, time or emotional reactions start moving outside the limits you set beforehand.

Is self-exclusion the same as closing an account?

Not always. The exact tool and duration depend on the operator and local system.
